Marianne Stöger

Marianne Stöger (born April 24, 1934 in Matrei am Brenner ) is a former Austrian leprosy nurse in South Korea .

Life

Marianne Stöger grew up in Matrei am Brenner and after graduating from nursing school, she worked at Innsbruck University Hospital from 1955 to 1962 . From 1962 to 2005 she worked at Sorok Island Hospital in Korea. She has lived in Tyrol again since her retirement .

Awards

In 1999 she was awarded the Ho Am Prize, often referred to as the Korean Nobel Prize. She donated the $ 200,000 prize money to the hospital. In 2018 she received the Tyrolean Decoration of Honor .
