The Marie-Curie-Gymnasium in Dallgow-Döberitz is a school in the federal state of Brandenburg, the establishment of which was decided in 2000 in order to take account of the rapidly growing population, especially in the western suburb of Berlin. The number of pupils so far confirms these forecasts impressively: the school started operating in 2002 with 56 pupils, in the school year 2010/2011 there were already 749 and the capacity of the now six-class school is sufficient for up to 900 pupils.

The high school was the location of the remake of the feature film Die Welle in 2007 , as well as an episode of Polizeiruf 110 in 2012 and the Spotlight series in 2016 .

history

By resolution of the district council on October 9, 2000, the grammar school was re-established as the Dallgow-Döberitz grammar school . In August 2002, two seventh grades began teaching in the old primary school. At the time, it was the smallest grammar school in Germany with 56 students. On August 26, 2003, by decision of the district council, District Administrator Schröder and Minister of Education Reiche renamed it Marie-Curie-Gymnasium, on August 29, 2003 the foundation stone for the new building took place. Classes initially took place in the rooms of the old elementary school - the new building of the current building was opened and moved into on January 31, 2005. However, this quickly became too small, which is why a second construction phase, which was planned from the outset, was opened on September 3, 2009. This takes into account the predicted strong population growth - the community of Dallgow-Döberitz has the highest predicted population growth in all of Brandenburg with 42.7% growth by 2030.

In 2009, the Abitur was taken for the first time at the Marie Curie Gymnasium.

Architecture and buildings

For the construction of the completely new high school, an open implementation competition with an upstream lottery took place in 2001, which was won by the architectural office Grüntuch Ernst . The new building was initially designed as a three-class high school - this construction phase was opened on January 31, 2005. Due to the expected population growth, the option of an extension to a five-class high school was included from the outset. The foundation stone was laid for this on June 14, 2008. This section has also been open since the 2009/2010 school year, so that this year, for the first time, five new classes could be added.

The high school has a three-field sports hall integrated into the building in the basement, which can be seen from above as a special feature both inside the building and from the street.

The booklet GEO Knowledge No. 44 - The ideal school emphasizes in the article "Building material fantasy" on page 70/71 the architecture of the school as particularly successful.

Educational work, equipment and offers

The foreign languages English, Spanish, French and Latin are offered.

Since the 2010/2011 school year, the school has had three standard and profile classes in each of the six-year classes (today's secondary level I). The profile classes have a scientific profile, which is manifested in particular in the increased number of hours in these subjects and in the teaching of chemistry and computer science from the seventh grade onwards. The regular classes focus on languages and social sciences.

Since the school building is very new, it has been extensively equipped with technical teaching aids. So there are z. B. several PC cabinets, interactive smart boards, media traffic lights in specialist rooms and a demo room in which z. B. the course of an experiment can be transferred to a large screen by camera.
