Life

Marie Auguste Ramlo, the eldest daughter of the Bavarian civil servant Ferdinand Ramlo (1816-1883), whose ancestors came from Brabant , had to become self-employed at an early age and contribute to the livelihood of the large family, as the father's salary was insufficient. She first attended the Music Conservatory in Munich and briefly took private lessons with the actress Marie Denker . She made her debut on October 1, 1867 in Kaiserslautern , where she played the roles of “first and second lover”. In March 1868 she appeared for the first time at the court theater in Munich, on June 1, 1868, she became a permanent member of the ensemble there, to which she belonged until her death, i.e. for more than half a century. Her most famous role was Nora in Ibsen 's play of the same name .

From 1886 she published literary reviews in Die Gesellschaft under the pseudonym L. Willfried and then worked as a writer with plays, short stories and novels.

On September 16, 1876, she married the writer Ludwig Schneegans (1842–1922) for the first time. This marriage resulted in two daughters, Therese Luise (1878–1951), who married Carl Maria Cornelius , and Eva Franziska (* 1879). The marriage ended in divorce in 1883 after Marie's affair with the theater director Ernst Possart , which caused a scandal, and the daughters stayed with their father. In 1887 she married the writer Michael Georg Conrad (1846–1927) for the second time . From this marriage, the son Erwin Siegfried (born February 6, 1888) was born.
