Altar of Mary in Torcé

The Altar of Mary in the Catholic Church of St-Médard in Torcé , a French parish in the Ille-et-Vilaine department in the Brittany region , was created in the 17th century. The altar with reredos was added to the list of architectural monuments in France in 1968 as Monument historique .

The wooden altar in the north arm of the transept has a retable with four Corinthian columns, which frame three niches with sculptures. On the left there is a sculpture of St. Joseph with the baby Jesus in his arms and a lily in his hand, as a sign of chastity , on the right outside St. Vincent de Paul with two small children and in the middle Mary , who is holding Jesus in her hands who is shown with outspread arms.

There are flower vases above the two outer pillars and in the extension the blessing God the Father is enthroned with the globe in his hand, who is surrounded by angels.
