Norbert Rivasz-Tóth took part in national competitions for the first time in 2010, back then in the long jump and shot put. In both disciplines he achieved top positions at the national youth championships. From 2012 he then focused more on the javelin throw. He became Hungarian U18 champion and started in the same month at the age of sixteen at the U20 World Championships in Barcelona. There he was able to qualify for the final, in which he finished last with 66.12 m. In July 2013 he competed in two different international championships. First at the U18 World Championships in Donetsk, where he won the silver medal with 78.27 m, and only a week later at the U20 European Championships in Rieti, where he finished sixth in the final.
In 2014 he failed in qualifying at the U20 World Championships . A year later, he could not move into the final of the U20 European Championships . In August he became Hungarian champion for the first time, but with his widths he could not match his performance two years ago. It wasn't until 2016 that he achieved a significant increase of more than six meters from his best performance to 79.47 m. A month later he took part in the European Championships in Amsterdam. There he came to 74.56 m and ended up on the 27th place overall. In July 2017, Rivasz-Tóth initially competed at the U23 European Championships in Bydgoszcz. After he moved into the final there, he increased there to 83.08 m, with which he won the gold medal and also meant a new national record. In August he entered the World Championships in London, where he did not come close to his previous record and ended up in 21st place. Finally, the Debrecen University student started at the Universiade in Taipei, where he finished sixth.
At the European Championships in Berlin in 2018, he failed significantly in qualifying. In 2019 he became the Hungarian champion for the fifth time. In July he took part in the Universiade again. With 77.71 m he took fourth place in Naples. In October he competed at the World Championships in Doha. In the qualification he improved his best performance to 83.42 m and moved into the final.
