Marienkapelle (Alberschwende-Fischbach)
The Roman Catholic Marienkapelle in Fischbach , a district of the Bregenzerwald community of Alberschwende, is dedicated to the Seven Sorrows of Mary . It is a listed building.
history
The chapel was built in 1876 and consecrated in 1878. It was expanded from 1966 to 1967.
Architecture and equipment
The rectangular building with choir is located under a gable roof and a small bell tower with a pointed helmet . The extension has a hipped roof .
A sgraffito from 1966 on the entrance wall, painted by the Fischbach school director Barta, shows St. Maria .
The interior is rectangular and barrel vaulted . A retracted choir arch separates the 3/8 choir with high vaults from the prayer room with flat arched windows. There is a surrounding wooden cornice in the choir. In the west is a gallery.
The glass paintings from 1876 show the “ Flight into Egypt ”, the “ Offering in the Temple ”, the mourning Mary at the tomb of Jesus , the “ Crucifixion of Christ ” with St. Maria, St. John and St. Maria Magdalena , as well as the station of the cross “Jesus meets his mother”. In the altar wall niche is a Pietà, created at the end of the 19th century.
