Marijan Christow ( Bulgarian Мариян Христов , English transcription Mariyan Hristov ; born July 29, 1973 in Botevgrad , Bulgaria ) is a former Bulgarian football player and current football coach .
Life
society
His career began in Bulgaria with Balkan Botevgrad . Christow's other stations were Slavia Sofia and Levski Sofia before he moved to the Palatinate in 1997 for 1. FC Kaiserslautern . In addition to 146 games (26 goals) for Lautern's first division team, he was also used in the FCK amateur team - following an injury. Christow scored 29 goals in the Bundesliga. From the 2004/05 season he played for VfL Wolfsburg , where the midfielder could be successfully used again as a player after a long period of absence due to his injury towards the end of the 2005/06 season. He missed the 2006/07 season almost entirely due to an injury, which meant that his contract with VfL 2007 was not extended.
National team
Christow took part in the 1998 soccer world championship and the 2004 European soccer championship with Bulgaria . The last time for the Bulgarian national team was Christow on February 6, 2007, when they had defeated the Latvian national team 2-0.
Coaching career
Since 2008 Christow has been the player-coach of the PFC Balkan Botevgrad , which plays in the third Bulgarian league W Grupa Südwest .
Oddities
In the final of the DFB Cup 2002/03, the then Lauterer saw a red card and was banned from three cup games. Since Kaiserslautern failed in the first round of the cup in the following season, he was suspended for two more games at the beginning of the 2004/05 season. However, his new club VfL Wolfsburg was not aware of this, which used him in the first round of the cup against the amateurs of 1. FC Köln . The game, which Wolfsburg won 3-0, was then rated 2-0 for the Cologne amateurs.
