The black- finned parrot ( Aphyosemion congicum ) is a smaller representative of the egg-laying tooth carps and, for a killifish, unusually peaceful, even shy. It is native to fresh waters in the southwest of the Democratic Republic of the Congo , south of the Congo , and is about 4.5 centimeters long. It was named after the black fins of the male animals, which stand out from the yellowish-green, red-dotted corpus.
features
The males of the black-finned marvel are yellow-brown to greenish, with small red spots on their body and fins. The anal and caudal fin are yellow, the dorsal fin is completely or only at the upper edge, the caudal fin is black at the upper and lower edge. The females are gray-brown to brown. Their fins are colorless and rounded.
Aquarium keeping
The fish are perfectly suitable for keeping in aquariums and, in contrast to other killifishes, can also be socialized with other species. In return, they place relatively high demands on the water quality. The water should never be too hard . Values from 4 to 10 ° dH are suitable. In addition, the water should be slightly acidic and should not exceed temperatures of 23 ° C. The animals are very sensitive to polluted water.
