Marika Geldmacher-von Mallinckrodt

Marika Geldmacher-von Mallinckrodt , née von Mallinckrodt-Haupt (born April 28, 1923 in Potsdam , † December 23, 2016 in Erlangen ) was a German chemist , doctor and professor at the University of Erlangen . Her focus was on forensic toxicology , forensic and clinical-toxicological analysis and ecogenetics .

Life

After graduating from high school in Bamberg , Geldmacher-von Mallinckrodt studied chemistry from 1940 to 1948 at the Universities of Cologne, Munich and Erlangen. On July 1, 1948, she became a Doctor of Science doctorate . From 1949 to 1954 she studied at the University of Erlangen Medical Degree and in July 1954 its graduation to the doctor of medicine . From 1954 to 1963 she was a research assistant at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg , where she ended up working at the Institute for Forensic Medicine and Criminology . In 1960 she was recognized by the "Society for Clinical Chemistry" as a "Clinical Chemist". In 1964 she was awarded the venia legendi for the subject "Forensic Chemistry". In 1970 she was awarded a professorship, in 1978 she was given a C3 professorship . Marika Geldmacher-von Mallinckrodt had been retired since 1985.

On December 6, 1943, she married the government master builder Dr. Ing.Herbert Geldmacher. This marriage resulted in five children who were born in 1944, 1945, 1954, 1957 and 1966. Marika Geldmacher-von Mallinckrodt has nine grandchildren.

She was the daughter of the dermatologist Asta von Mallinckrodt-Haupt .

Work areas

Marika Geldmacher-von Mallinckrodt wrote more than 130 scientific articles in books and magazines. In 1976 she published her book "Simple examinations for poisons in the clinical-chemical laboratory". In 1989 she published together with Hans J. Gibitz "Clinical-toxicological analysis in acute poisoning and drug abuse". She was co-author of the books "Forensic Medicine" (1975), "Metals in the Environment" (1984), "Textbook of Clinical Chemistry and Pathobiochemistry" (1987, 1989, 1995), "Metals and their Compounds in the Environment" (1991 ), "Handbook on Metals in Clinical Chemistry" (1995). In addition, from 1982 to 1995 she was the editor of the "Communications of the Commission for Clinical-Toxicological Analysis of the German Research Foundation".

Honors

In 1980 the city of Erlangen awarded Geldmacher-von Mallinckrodt the letter of honor. In 1986 she received the Jean Servais Stas Medal from the Society for Toxicological and Forensic Chemistry . In 1987 she was awarded the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany.
