Marina Meinander

Marina Helena Charlotta Meinander (born January 4, 1967 in Turin , Italy ) is a dramaturge at the Swedish National Theater in Finland . She is the author of plays , scripts and a musical - libretto , works as a translator and heads the theater group IRTI-group .

life and work

Marina Meinander was born in Turin, Italy, but grew up in Finland and Germany , where her father worked. The family belongs to the Swedish- speaking minority in Finland. After graduating from high school , which she passed at the German School in Helsinki , she studied journalism at the University of Helsinki and then worked for a few years as a journalist for Finnish radio in the radio and television sector.

She then studied dramaturgy at the Helsinki Theater School and began writing and staging her first plays. During her studies she worked as a dramaturge and assistant director with important directors, u. a. at the Deutsches Theater in Berlin and the municipal theaters of Osnabrück. Since 2000 she has been a dramaturge at the Swedish National Theater (Svenska Teatern) in Helsinki.

The musical KICK , which she wrote together with Carita Holmström , premiered in February 2003 at Svenska Teatern in Helsinki. Its German premiere took place on March 5, 2005 as a co-production of the Vorpommern Landesbühne and the Vorpommern Theater in Greifswald.

She wrote scripts for TV series and (together with Hanna Raulo) for the film Sirpaleita . She also works as a translator, writes and directs for independent theater groups, especially for her own group "IRTI-group", in which she works with Kirsi Porkka.

Marina Meinander lives in Helsinki.
