Carita Holmström
Carita Elisabeth Holmström (born February 10, 1954 in Helsinki ) is a Finnish pianist , singer and composer . In 1974 she represented Finland in the Eurovision Song Contest .
Life
Even before her appearance at the Eurovision Song Contest in 1974 , Carita Elisabeth Holmström had made a name for herself as a pop and jazz singer : in 1973 her first album We Are What We Do was "Record of the Year" in Finland. She represented Finland at the Eurovision Song Contest with the title Keep Me Warm and took 13th place.
Carita Holmström's work encompasses a wide variety of genres , she is active as a singer, pianist and guitarist in jazz, pop, Latin and classical music . Since 1976 she has also been active as a composer in the theater sector and composes music for musicals , a chamber opera and other theater pieces . For example, she wrote the music for the musical Kick ( libretto by Marina Meinander ), the songs of which are available on CD and which has already been performed in Germany.
Holmström graduated from the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki in 1979 as a classical pianist. Since 1983 she has been teaching piano , improvisation and harmony at the Sibelius Academy .
