Vesa-Matti Loiri (born January 4, 1945 in Helsinki ) is a Finnish actor, musician and cabaret artist. In Finland he was mainly known for his portrayal of Uuno Turhapuro , whom he played in 20 films between 1973 and 2004.

Life

Loiri began acting in the feature film Pojat in 1962 . Since then he has appeared in over 50 Finnish films. He also lent the character of the Djinni in the cartoon Aladdin the voice and sang the song Friend like Me in the Disney production .

As a musician, Loiri has released dozens of music albums. His albums received a total of three gold and twelve platinum awards in Finland . In 1980 he represented Finland at the Eurovision Song Contest 1980 with the song Huilumies , but reached the bottom of the 19 participants. In 1986 he brought out a Finnish cover version of the Fred Bertelmann hit The Laughing Vagabond . There is also a Finnish version of his cult title "In a Gadda da Vida".
