Laila Kinnunen
Laila Kinnunen (aka Laura Annikki Kinnunen , after 1971 Mišić ; born November 8, 1939 in Helsinki rural community ; † October 26, 2000 in Heinävesi ) was a Finnish singer . It was popular in the 1950s and 1960s.
Live and act
As a refugee from the Second World War , she spent her childhood in Sweden , and when she was ten she was able to return to Finland. She won a hit competition in Helsinki in 1955 and shortly thereafter became a soloist in the orchestra of Lasse Pihlajamaa . Their first single Lazzarella in 1957 was already a success, which was followed by more. In the 1960s she expanded her musical spectrum and you could hear bossa nova , jazz , folklore and musical melodies from her.
She was the first ever participant for Finland at the Grand Prix Eurovision in Cannes in 1961 . With her ballad Valoa ikkunassa she reached the tenth place.
In the early 1970s, Laila Kinnunen slowly withdrew from the music business. A comeback attempt in 1980 was unsuccessful. Her album Kaikki Kauneimmat was honored with a gold record in Finland in 2001 .
The singer Ritva Kinnunen (* 1937) is her sister and Milana Mišić (* 1970) is her daughter.
