Sandhja Kuivalainen (born March 16, 1991 in Helsinki ) is a Finnish singer . She represented Finland at the Eurovision Song Contest 2016 in Stockholm, Sweden .

life and career

Sandhja is the daughter of a Finnish father and a Guyanese - Indian mother.

Her debut single Hold Me was released on November 15, 2013 as a single from her first album Gold . The second single Gold from the album of the same name was released on March 7, 2014. Their debut album was finally released on May 23, 2014, distributed by Sony Music . The first collaboration with another artist was the single The Flavor by Brandon Bauer, which was released in May 2015, followed by the third single My Bass in October of the same year , both without an accompanying album.

On January 12, 2016 it was announced that Sandhja is one of 18 participants in the Finnish ESC preliminary round Uuden Musikkin Kilpailu (UMK 2016). In the third preliminary round, she reached the final of the show on February 27, 2016, which she was able to win as first in the jury and third in the televoting. She therefore represented Finland with the song Sing It Away in the first semifinals of the ESC 2016 on May 10, 2016 in Stockholm. There she could not qualify for the final, however.
