Katri Helena (aka Katri Helena Kalaoja , * August 17, 1945 in Tohmajärvi as Katri Helena Koistinen ) is a Finnish pop singer .

Live and act

She has been one of the most successful musicians in her homeland since the 1960s. According to its official website, it has recorded around 500 songs, published 52 albums and compilations, and sold more than 1.5 million records. In 1995 she was awarded “Singer of the Year” by Emma , Finland's highest music award.

She took part twice in the Eurovision Song Contest for Finland: At the Eurovision Song Contest 1979 in Jerusalem she reached 14th place with her hit Katson sineen taivaan and 14 years later, at the Eurovision Song Contest 1993 in Millstreet , Ireland , she landed with the title Tule luo in 17th place.

Katri Helena is still very popular in Finland. In 2014 she reached the top 3 of the Finnish album charts with the album Taivaan tie . In 2015 a Christmas album followed with Niin on aina ollut .
