Geir Ronning (* 5. November 1962 in Ålesund as Geir Ola Rønning ) is a Norwegian singer .

Live and act

From 1995 to 1997 he took part in the national preliminary round of the Eurovision Song Contest , the Melodi Grand Prix . However, he could not achieve victory with his self-written titles. After moving to Finland , he became active there and took part in the 2004 and 2005 preliminary rounds. Participation in 2005 brought him the victory and so he was allowed to compete for Finland at the Eurovision Song Contest 2005 in Kiev . With his pop ballad Why? about the hostage-taking of Beslan , however, he only reached 18th place in the semi-finals and could not qualify for the final.

Another participation in the Norwegian Melodi Grand Prix 2006 brought him fourth place out of eight artists. He performed there together with the singer Jorum Erdal as a duo. In 2010 he was a participant in the Swedish casting show Idol , where he made it to 7th place.
