Marine Plain ( English for sea level ) is a 3 km long and 1 km wide plain on the Ingrid Christensen coast of the East Antarctic Princess Elisabeth Land . It lies between the head ends of the Krok Fjord and its side bay Adamson Bay on the Mule Peninsula in the Vestfold Mountains . The plain is covered by rubble , overlying diatom sediments. There are a few small lakes and valleys on it . It is one of the specially protected areas in Antarctica (ASPA # 143).
Australian scientists named it after the fossil remains of marine diatoms, molluscs , whales and dolphins found here .
