Marino Bodenmann

Marino Bodenmann (born September 18, 1893 in Fiesch , † March 8, 1964 in Ascona ; resident in Martisberg ) was a Swiss politician ( KPS / PdA ).

Life

Marino Bodenmann, the son of a shoemaker, became a half-orphan at an early age. After primary school he worked in the mountain farm of his grandparents. From 1910 he worked as a laborer, including as a waiter in Italy and as a watch worker in the Jura. Bodenmann became vice-president of the SP Grenchen in 1917 . From 1921 he was a founding member, member of the Central Committee and party secretary of the Communist Party of Switzerland. In the years 1918 to 1935 he made several trips with party mandates to Soviet Russia and the Soviet Union . In 1919 he was arrested as a functionary of the Comintern in Rome and expelled. Bodenmann was a delegate at the 6th (1928) and 7th World Congress (1935) of the Comintern. From 1926 to 1929 he was head of the Basel Communist Party section, from 1928 secretary of the Red Trade Union Opposition (RGO). In 1930 he had to leave the KPS Politburo because of “opportunism”, he rejoined it in 1932, and in 1936 he was again party secretary.

In 1935 he became editor of the communist Zürcher Kämpfers, from 1936 to 1939 Bodenmann was editor-in-chief of the national Communist Party organ Freedom, from 1947 head of the cooperative printing company of Vorwärts . From 1922 to 1932 he was Basel Grand Councilor, 1934–1937 Zurich City Council, 1935–1937 Zurich Cantonal Council, in 1944 he was a founding member of the PdA. In the years 1934–1939 and 1953–1959 Bodenmann was a member of the Basel National Council.

Marino Bodenmann was married to Annette Kirschbaum.
