The state capitol of the US state of Texas (English Texas State Capitol ) in the Texas capital Austin is the parliament building of the Texas state legislature ( Texas Legislature ) and houses the offices and plenary chambers of the House of Representatives and Senate as well as the office of the governor of the state. The building planned by the architect Elijah E. Myers was built between 1882 and 1888. A 75 million dollars expensive underground extension and simultaneous restoration was completed in the 1993rd

The Texas State Capitol has been listed as a building on the National Register of Historic Places since June 1970 . In June 1986, the building was granted National Historic Landmark status. The Texas Capitol is the sixth tallest of all state capitals in the United States at 92.24 meters and is also higher than the US Capitol in Washington, DC
