It is the fourth game in the Mario & Luigi series and the successor to Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Adventure and the predecessor of Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam Bros. The game was presented on February 14, 2013 as part of a Nintendo Direct and Released on July 12, 2013 in Europe, July 13, 2013 in Australia, July 18, 2013 in Japan, and August 11, 2013 in North America.

In the game, Mario, Luigi, Toadsworth, Princess Peach and a few Toads are invited to the mysterious island of “La Dormita”. The administrator of the island is the mysterious “Dr. Sleep more ”, which is absent when they arrive at La Dormita. But the stay will be anything but relaxing. Peach is kidnapped by Antasma, the dark bat king, into the dream world. Antasma makes his debut in this game. Now Mario and Luigi have to travel to the dream world with the help of the dream pillows in order to save Peach. However, this will be a bit difficult because Mario and Luigi often have to switch back and forth between the waking world and the dream world. The dream pillows consist of the fossilized people of the pillows, who inhabited the island a long time ago, when it was still under the rule of the pillow kingdom. But this went down many years ago. The cushions were petrified by Antasma, because he broke the dark stone when the cushions locked him in the dream world.
