Mario Hieblinger (born July 5, 1977 ) is an Austrian professional footballer on the position of a defender .

Career

Hieblinger began his career at SV Stockerau . His first professional position was VfB Admira Wacker Mödling , from where he moved to SV Austria Salzburg . After he could not assert himself there, he switched to the then Salzburg satellite association BSV Bad Bleiberg in the second level. After a good performance, the central defender and man marketer went to FC Kärnten in the Austrian Bundesliga in 2002 . With the Klagenfurt team he matured to become a national player. After relegation in 2004, he stayed with the Carinthians for another year.

In the summer of 2005 he was brought to the Grazer AK by Walter Schachner as a replacement for Mario Tokić who had emigrated , but could not meet the high expectations there. So he moved in the summer break of 2006 to the promoted Lyttos Ergotelis in the first Greek league . There Hieblinger developed into an important pillar and grew up to be a real leader of the Cretans. In 2011, Hieblinger also extended his contract until June 2013.

In summer 2012, after Ergoteli's relegation, Hieblinger moved back home to LASK .

National team

Hieblinger made his debut for the national team on March 22, 2003 in a game against Greece that ended 2-2. As a second division player, he also came repeatedly to appearances under Hans Krankl , and during his time at GAK he was still part of the regular squad. Hieblinger played his last international match on September 7, 2005 in Baku against Azerbaijan (0-0).
