Mario Ilsanker

Mario Ilsanker (born 1984 in Salzburg ) is an Austrian lighting designer .

Professional activities

Ilsanker has been working as a freelance lighting technician and programmer for the Salzburg Festival , the Salzburg Easter Festival , the Graz Opera and the Richard Wagner Festival Wels since 2003. From 2007 he worked as a freelance lighting designer for the Theater The Place in London ( I'll Just Go ), for the Nederlands Dans Theater in The Hague ( Das Affentheater ), the Graz Opera ( Celebrating Sacre, Alcina , Tosca , Upper Room ) and the Salzburg State Theater ( School's Sister Act ). From 2010 to 2012 he studied Theater Lighting Design and Practice with Dave Horn at the University of the Arts London . Even before that, he accompanied numerous productions at the Salzburg Festival as a lighting technician, including Christian Stückl's Jedermann production, Johann Kresnik's Peer Gynt , Martin Kušej's King Ottokar's Glück und Ende , Peter Stein's Oedipus in Kolonos and Dimiter Gotscheff's Handke production Immer noch Sturm . In 2015 and 2016 he designed the lights in two Shakespeare productions for director Henry Mason : A Midsummer Night's Dream and The Comedy of Errors .
