Mario Mattòli

Mario Mattòli (born November 30, 1898 in Tolentino , † February 26, 1980 in Rome ) was an Italian film director , screenwriter and film producer .

Life

Mattòli graduated with a law degree and worked as a lawyer for a short time. He was hired as secretary by the Emilio Suvini / Luigi Zerboni theater company , after which he worked as an organizer for a number of groups, above all for the then extremely well-known and successful "Spettacoli Za-Bum ". In 1932 he switched to film as a producer for two films and finally shot his first own strip Tempo massimo in 1934 , which was followed by around eighty films by 1966, for which he was always involved in the script and of which only around 20 can be seen in German-speaking countries were. Over time, he specialized in comedies; under him the most important actors of their time and this subject played, especially Totò , with whom he celebrated numerous successes. But every now and then he also showed his talent for dramatic material that reached the hearts of the audience.

In 2010 the company "OffiCine Mattòli" was founded in his hometown.
