To err is fatal (Original title: Per qualche dollaro in meno ) is an Italian spaghetti western comedy from 1966. The direct parody of For a few dollars more - the original title means "For a few dollars less" - was directed by Mario Mattòli and first shown in the German-speaking area in 1988 in the DFF .

In the American West, anxious bank clerk Bill, harassed by his boss, Mr. Black, tries to avoid the consequences of a $ 100 deficit by going to see his cousin Colonel Frank, who is supposed to teach him shooting skills. You act as a bounty hunter and bandit to collect the head rewards, but Bill ends up in jail. There is also the Mexican bandit Miguel, whose gang are supposed to support the two in the attack on the bank. With difficulty, the cousins ​​manage to land the coup, play the Mexicans against each other and deliver them to the sheriff. Then they collect the bounties.

“Nice are some of the direct references to Leone , e.g. For example, the flashbacks, which reveal the tragic event that Frank has in common with the Mexican, ”writes Christian Keßler , who, however, urgently warns against the (GDR) synchronization of the film.
