Marcello Giombini

Marcello Giombini (born July 24, 1928 in Rome , † December 12, 2003 ) was an Italian film composer .

Life

Giombini played the church organ from a young age and after completing his music studies began composing sacred works, pieces based on the classical Baroque and film music. In the latter area he became known through many spaghetti westerns , but also works for other genre ware. In the 1980s he also used the pen names Pluto Kennedy as well as Marcus Griffin .

Giombini is considered one of the pioneers of electronic music in Italy. He recorded a few records on the Arp 2600 . In addition, this synthesizer was his main instrument for many of his film scores. He also worked as a composer and producer for the music for computer games for the Commodore C64 .

From the field of classical music his Messa dei Giovani is considered to be one of the first Beatmessen and the 150 Salmi per il nostro tempo , of the more than 100 film scores, the one for Sabata is regarded as outstanding.

His son Pierluigi Giombini is also a composer.
