action

The wealthy American entrepreneur and architect John Wilson wants to build a vacation paradise on the lonely, curse- laden Cat Island , a remote island in the Caribbean . In order to measure the new acquisition, Wilson travels to the said island with his casual hotel friend Fiona and skipper Larry O'Hara. However, he did not expect the zombies and the island's guardian spirit, a cat, that were up to mischief on the area.

Shortly before the crossing to the cat island, the three travelers encounter mysterious incidents, which are initially ignored. Wilson, his lover and the seaman begin to scout out the leased area, but soon come across the mysterious, exotic beauty Luna and her strange grandfather on the island, which is considered uninhabited, who again admonishes the intruders to leave the area again. The locals fear a disturbance of the peace of the dead of their people buried here and their possible resurrection.

Despite previous warnings, Wilson initially considers everything supernatural to be crazy and superstitious, until - after further inexplicable sightings - he changes his mind. At this point, however, it is no longer possible to leave the tropical island. The dead in the local cemetery rise from their graves and harass the living. The instinct-controlled Wilson is "emasculated" by the mysterious Luna and eaten by the cannibalistic undead , which also turns him into a zombie, while O'Hara and Fiona have to fight off a whole host of living dead. In the end, Fiona and the sailor survive the attacks thanks to an amulet , but go insane. You will be rescued and interned in a mental institution.

background

With In the violence of the zombies , the director Joe D'Amato continued his concept from the film Naked Among Cannibals . Due to its surprising success, D'Amato conceived a similar film. With Erotic Nights of the Living Dead , he combined the then very successful horror figure of the Zombies (one year before was George A. Romero's hit movie Zombie - Dawn of the Dead released in cinemas), with erotic scenes. The original title is also based on Romero's first zombie film Night of the Living Dead . However, apart from the zombie theme, there are no similarities between the works.

Joe D'Amato was able to win Laura Gemser for his project, who enjoyed a high degree of recognition through her role as Black Emanuelle . In contrast to Naked Among Cannibals , D'Amato shot hardcore sex scenes for In the Force of the Zombies , which is why the film was also the target of censorship measures in numerous countries. At that time, D'Amato had already recognized that pure softcore productions did not promise the desired success, for which he said he only worked. Neither Laura Gemser nor George Eastman took part in said hardcore scenes. The latter always coped with his sex scenes in clothes. D'Amato finally cut a so-called zombie version and a hardcore version , in which violence or sex dominated , in order to sell as much as possible . The zombie version was mainly sold in Italy.

Reviews

“In his lifetime, Uncle Joe D'Amato made films that offended any thinking living being whose IQ was over 28. In the meantime he is himself underground and thus also in the power of zombies "

- Worst Movies Ever :

"Colportage film that combines the images of murderous zombies with sex interludes in the style of the Emanuelle films and tries to skim off fashion waves."
