Contamination. 7 , alternatively Creepers , Troll 3 or The Crawlers , is an Italian horror film by director Joe D'Amato from 1990. It was shot in Canada , where it was subsequently post-produced and marketed.

An attempt was made to screen the film internationally as a continuation of the Troll film series . However, this production has neither content nor form in common with its predecessors.

action

An unscrupulous manager of a nuclear power plant illegally dumps the bins with the radioactive waste into a forest not far from a settlement in Alaska . In this way, the radioactivity should get into the forest floor and accumulate in tree roots. This process must have caused the roots to separate themselves from the trees by growing and lengthening rapidly. They began to look for helpless victims like worm-like tendrils, to pull them, to whip them, to wrap them around and to strangle them.

The main characters Josie and her ex-boyfriend Matt want to move to a big city because the provincial village is perceived as desolate. The situation takes a different turn when they accidentally find a corpse in the forest. The sheriff visited disapproves of the discovery because he is involved in a deal with the nuclear power plant manager. The matter is covered up, but then a drunk technician discovers the truth about the cause of the contamination. When he unwittingly puts himself in danger, he is pursued by the evil manager and his supporters; Finally the hunt in the forest ends with the killer roots killing the gang.

The end of the film indicates a continuation of the events and the chances of survival of the contaminated trees, but this never materialized.

background

The producers of the film sometimes acted under pseudonyms , for example "Martin Newlin", alias Fabrizio Laurenti and David Hills, alias Joe D'Amato (Aristide Massaccesi), were given as directors. In addition to Fabrizio Laurenti, Albert Lawrence and Rossella Drudi, Daniel Stahl, behind whose name is Daniele Stoppa , is recorded for the script . The script is described as lifeless and boring and the film does not match the successes of Italian horror films in the 1960s to 1980s. Contamination. 7 premiered in cinemas in Canada, the United States, and the United Kingdom in 1990 and was also released on Columbia TriStar Home Entertainment videotapes on December 29, 1993, in English only ( age 17 - R ). In Germany it was never dubbed or performed.
