action

50 years after a devastating nuclear catastrophe that killed large parts of the population, the few survivors find themselves in a hostile environment. The radiation contamination leads to degeneration in many . Over the years a new human race emerges - the mutants.

The urban spaces are ruled with an iron fist by the wicked military. This prejudiced elite fears an uprising by the outnumbered mutants who have telepathic abilities. A preventive strike should therefore be carried out in secret ; masked murder squads are responsible for carrying it out. The wave of purges is said to extend over the so-called Lower City, an inner-city refuge for lepers.

Nonetheless, normal people are kept happy with games. The television show Manhunt , in which modern gladiators fight each other to the death, is particularly popular . Favorite is the invincible Ron Shannon. He faces three merciless hunters, including his childhood friend Karnak. In the midst of the ongoing competition, Shannon meets selfless Lilith, a thought leader of the Mutants. She asks him to escort her and other companions out of town for gold. Shannon reluctantly agrees. As a thank you, Lilith guides the warrior to victory in Manhunt with her telephatic skills, even though Shannon Karnak's life is spared.

Shannon later recruits five daring men for his upcoming assignment - much to the displeasure of the ruling authorities. Together with the mercenaries and the group led by Lilith, the hero finally starts the escape from the rubble city. On the way they have to fend off hostile attacks by blind monks and highly degenerated monsters who briefly kidnap Lilith. In the end, armed security forces intervene, but they can be stopped by a young boy with enormous mental powers. Afterwards, Lilith and her people are picked up by strangers who lead them into a more peaceful environment. Shannon stays behind of his own accord and duels with arch rival Karnak in the final scene of the film.

reception

The lexicon of international films describes the production as a “ worn-out late-period action film ” that lives “ on the stringing together of well-known motifs ”.
