Lando Buzzanca

Lando Buzzanca (actually Gerlando Buzzanca , born August 24, 1935 in Palermo ) is an Italian actor.

Life

Buzzanca, nephew of Gino Buzzanca and with many relatives at the Sicilian dialect theater, left the city of his birth at the age of 16 and moved to Rome, where he soon married. After a number of short-term jobs, he turned to acting. His first role was that of a Jewish slave in Ben Hur in 1959 . From then on, the actor "with a protruding chin, lively eyes, a winning smile and a special nose, masculine-beautiful" followed film on film, and he soon made a name for himself as a comedy specialist. He worked for Elio Petri , Dino Risi and Antonio Pietrangeli but also in character roles; comic roles, also at the side of international stars like Peter Sellers or Edward G. Robinson, brought him greater success. At times he has been cast as the Italian partner in an international cast of actors. In Italian films, too, he was often the southern Italian immigrant of the metropolises. He liked to use the cliché of the machismo , but unsuccessful and frustrated, somewhat dumb man. Buzzanca could be seen on stage with the “Attori Associati” at the beginning of the 1960s in Sacco and Vanzetti as well as in some revues.

In the 1970s he often played in Sexy Comedies alongside colleagues such as Barbara Bouchet , Laura Antonelli , Sylva Koscina , Rossana Podestà , Agostina Belli and Femi Benussi .

Subsequently, his roles in the cinema were few and far between, so that he concentrated on the theater. In 1994 he played Liolà in Luigi Pirandellos, directed by Rossana Patrizia Siccari . It wasn't until the middle of the first decade of the 2000s that he could be seen again more often, now also on television.

Between 1971 and 1981 some of his singles appeared as an interpreter.
