Sylva Koscina (born August 22, 1933 in Zagreb , † December 26, 1994 in Rome ) was an Italian actress of Yugoslav origin who appeared in over 120 films .

Life

Koscina studied physics at the University of Naples and worked as a photo model .

From 1955 on, Koscina played numerous cinema roles. Her second film, Pietro Germis The Red Signal , became an important film of Italian neorealism and earned some recognition. Another success was the comedy thief out thief ago by Luigi Zampa from the year 1958th

In the following years Sylva Koscina made numerous entertainment and period films, including a. as partner of Lino Ventura in Shooting As Long as You Can (1965), at the side of Horst Buchholz in Our Man from Istanbul (1965) and in Johnny Banco (1967), as a contract killer in Hot Cats (1967), or in Robert Siodmak's two-part Monumental film Battle for Rome (1968).

But she was also seen in more serious roles, such as in Georges Franjus Judex (1963) or the war film The Battle of the Neretva (1969). In 1965 she engaged Federico Fellini for Julia and the Ghosts . From the mid-1970s onwards, she significantly reduced her workload, which at times came to ten films a year. In 1993 she took part in her last film C'è Kim Novak al telefono .

Sylva Koscina died of breast cancer in Rome in 1994 at the age of 61 .
