Mario Palanti (* 1885 in Milan ; † 1978 ibid) was an Italian architect whose main works are in Buenos Aires and Montevideo . He was the brother of the painter Giuseppe Palanti .

Palanti was a graduate of the Brera Academy and the Politecnico di Milano . In 1909 he accompanied Francisco Gianotti as a collaborator in the construction of the Italian pavilion for the 1910 exhibition of the century in the Argentine capital.

The eclectic Palanti then built magnificent buildings for the Italian-born upper class on both sides of the Río de la Plata for around 20 years , for example the Palacio Barolo and Hotel Castelar in the Avenida de Mayo in Buenos Aires and the Palacio Salvo in Montevideo . He continued his professional life with the conception of monumental building projects, but due to the change in style from Art Deco to Modernism, they had no chance and remained unrealized. His project of an 80-story skyscraper for the center of Rome, dating back to 1924, also remained unfulfilled.

Between 1924 and 1928 Palanti designed the Civico Mausoleo Palanti in the Cimitero Monumentale central cemetery in Milan. He is buried in the Civico Mausoleo Palanti.
