Mario Pani Darqui
Mario Pani Darqui (born March 29, 1911 in Mexico City ; † February 23, 1993 ibid) was a Mexican architect , urban planner and 1978 founder of the Academia Nacional de Arquitectura in Mexico.
biography
Pani studied architecture at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris until 1937 and then returned to Mexico, where he completed his final examination to become an architect. In 1938 he began to publish the Revue für Architektur in Mexico (until 1980). He realized some of his numerous buildings together with the architect Enrique del Moral . His works include numerous Mexican educational institutions, for example the Escuela Normal de Maestros and the Conservatorio Nacional de Música , which were built in the mid- 1940s , his first residential building in 1949 and that with Enrique del Moral and Salvador Ortega Flores between 1950 and 1950 1952 realized the central administration building and the rectorate tower of the UNAM. Partly together with Enrique del Moral, he designed numerous national and international buildings.
Pani was since 1985 "numbered member" (Miembro de Número) of the Academia de Artes .
His son Knut Pani is a well-known artist today.
