Mario Stefano Pietrodarchi (born December 26, 1980 in Atessa , Switzerland ) is an Italian accordion player and bandoneon player.

Live and act

Pietrodarchi began playing the accordion at the age of nine , and a little later the bandoneon . From 1993 to 2001 he studied with Claudio Calista and Cesare Chiacchiaretta at the F. Fenaroli Civic Music School in Lanciano . He completed further studies and master classes with u. a. J. Mornet, W. Zubitsky, AL Castano, C. Rossi, Y. Shishkin, M. Pitocco. In 2007 he graduated with distinction from the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome.

In 1998 he represented Italy at the CMA World Trophy (Junior) in Recoaro Terme (Italy). In 2000 he represented Italy at the CMA World Trophy (Senior) in Alcobaça (Portugal) , where he finished second. In 2001 he took first place in the CMA World Trophy (Senior) in Lorient (France).

Pietrodarchi has given concerts across Europe as well as in Canada, China and Korea. He has also been a guest at festivals such as the Montreal Jazz Festival in 2006 and the Sanremo Festival in 2008 . In 2002 he was a guest at the “Prmio barocco”, where he appeared together with the singer Antonella Ruggiero . International artists like Erwin Schrott hire him as a solo bandoneonist in their formations.

In 2005 he worked with the Rome Opera and the Fondazione Lirico Sinfonica Petruzzell e Teatri di Bari on the realization of Kurt Weill's opera Rise and Fall of the City of Mahagonny under the direction of Jonathan Webb. In 2009 he made a guest appearance at the Colosseum in Rome alongside Andrea Bocelli and Angela Gheorghiu, among others, in a concert for the benefit of the earthquake victims in Abruzzo.

In 2008 he starred in the recording of the soundtrack of the film "Caos Calmo" by Nanni Moretti and in 2009 of the most recent film "Italians" by Giovanni Veronesi with actors like Verdone, Scamarcio and Castellitto. Each composer was Paolo Buonvino .

Martín Palmeri wrote for Pietrodarchi a. a. the work “Duo Fantasioso”, which premiered in 2013.
