Martín Palmeri (born July 19, 1965 in Buenos Aires ) is an Argentine composer and conductor .

Live and act

His ancestors come from Italy and Denmark . He studied composition in Argentina and Italy with Daniel Montes, Marcelo Chevalier, Rodolfo Mederos , Virtú Maragno and Edgar Grana (New York), choral conducting with Antonio Russo and Nestor Zadoff, conducting with Mario Benzecry, singing with Amalia Estévez and José Crea and piano with Eduardo Páez and Orlando Tripodi.

He is the composer of vocal and instrumental works, many of which are inspired by the form and harmony of Tango Nuevo , including operas, oratorios, choral and orchestral compositions. Palmeri took over the piano part of his most famous work Misa a Buenos Aires (Misatango) in performances in Argentina, Belgium, Brazil, Chile, Denmark, Germany, Ecuador, France, Holland, Israel, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Austria, Poland, Slovakia, Spain, Switzerland, Turkey and the USA. The composition was interpreted by conductors, soloists and orchestras at the Festival Europa Cantat 2009 in Utrecht, Netherlands. Martín Palmeri, together with the Cologne Cathedral Choir and Roma Sinfonietta, performed the Misatango in October 2013 in a concert in honor of Pope Francis organized by the Fondazione Pro Musica e Arte Sacra in the Basilica of Sant'Ignazio di Loyola in Campo Marzio to be heard.

Palmeri received the first prize for a choir arrangement from the Argentine choir association AAMCANT in 2011. The University of Rosario awarded him the first prize in 2010 for "National Choral Arrangements". In 2003 the national art fund awarded him the first prize in the genre “symphonic work” at the composition competition Juan Carlos Paz for his Concierto de Danzas for cello and orchestra.

Several CDs with Palmeri's compositions have been released in Italy, Latvia, Germany and Argentina.

Palmeri lives in Paraná in the Entre Ríos province .
