Marion Forek-Schmahl

Marion Elisabeth Forek-Schmahl , née Marion Elisabeth Forek ( January 26, 1935 in Mühlbach, Transylvania - January 13, 2011 in Munich ) was a Romanian-German doll expert and specialist book author. It was considered an international capacity in specialist circles.

Life

Marion Elisabeth Forek was born in Mühlbach / Transylvania as the daughter of Karl and Martha Forek. She completed elementary school and secondary school in her hometown. In Karlsburg , she passed the Abitur in the upper secondary school.

Towards the end of the 1950s she moved to Sibiu and exercised various artistic activities until the mid-1960s, for example, she was a set designer for the German department of the State Theater there and worked as a freelance artist in Bucharest .

In 1970 she left for Munich and was managing director of the Bavarian Arts and Crafts Association from 1971 to 1990 . In 1974 she married Helmut Schmahl, who died suddenly in 1981.

During her time at the Bavarian Arts and Crafts Association, she turned her attention to the art object doll , which became more and more the center of her life. Forek held its annual international art exhibitions, mostly in Austrian castles, with a focus on artist dolls and figures. She was also a striking artist in terms of her clothing and jewelry.

1990 earned Marion Forek-Schmahl as the author of her book art object Doll ( Kunstverlag Weingarten ) by experts praise and recognition. As a great doll collector (she owned over 400 dolls from all over the world), she gradually became an international leader in the field of dolls .

After several years of severe suffering, she died on January 13, 2011 in the house of her brother, Dr. Karl-Heinz Forek.
