Mariusz Jop [ ˈmarʲuʃ jɔp ] (born August 3, 1978 in Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski , Poland ) is a former Polish football player .
Club career
The 1.88 m tall and 81 kg defender began his career in 1995 in his hometown club KSZO Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski . In 1999 he moved to Wisła Krakow , where he was unable to assert himself and was loaned to Widzew Łódź from January to December 2001 . Then he returned to Krakow and became a regular player. Overall, he was three times Polish champion and two cup winners with Krakow. With the beginning of the 2004/05 season Jop moved to the first Russian league for FK Moscow . In six seasons he played 83 games in which he scored four times. For the 2009/10 season he moved back to his former club Wisła Kraków . In June 2010 he announced the move to the newly promoted and Polish record champion Górnik Zabrze . For Górnik he played a total of 23 games in the Ekstraklasa and 2 cup games before he announced his retirement on November 18, 2011. Jop has been playing football again since the summer of 2012, but only in the Wisła Kraków old men’s team.
National team
In the Polish national team he made his debut on April 30, 2003 against Belgium. He played a total of 27 games for the "White-Reds" and was in the squad for the 2006 World Cup and in the 2008 European Football Championship .
