Marjorie, Countess of Carrick
Marjorie, Countess of Carrick (* before 1256, † 1292 ) was a Scottish noblewoman. She was the mother of the Scottish King Robert I (Robert the Bruce).
Life, family and offspring
Marjorie was the only child of Niall, Earl of Carrick and his wife Margaret Stewart, daughter of Walter Fitzalan . After the death of her father in 1256, she was the Countess of Carrick heiress to Carrick in South Ayrshire .
In her first marriage she married Adam of Kilconquhar at the latest in 1266 , who was possibly a descendant of a younger son of Duncan, 3rd Earl of Fife and owned estates in Fife . He died in Acre during the Seventh Crusade in 1271 .
In 1272 Marjorie married Robert de Brus, Laird of Annandale , who became Earl of Carrick through marriage ( de iure uxoris ). She had at least ten children with Robert:

Marjorie died in 1292. In November 1292, her husband renounced the title of Earl of Carrick, which then fell to his eldest son Robert. In 1306 he rose to be king of the Scots.
