Marjorie Lord

Marjorie Lord (born Marjorie Wollenberg , born July 26, 1918 in San Francisco , California - † November 28, 2015 in Los Angeles , California) was an American film and television actress .

Career

Before starting her career on Broadway , the artist studied drama and ballet at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts and the Chaliff School of Dance . She made her film debut in 1937 with a supporting role in Border Cafe . Especially in the 1940s, Lord played the leading role in many B-movies . She had one of her best-known roles in the 1943 Sherlock Holmes film Fatal Journey at the side of Basil Rathbone . Since the 1960s, Marjorie Lord has appeared almost exclusively in TV productions. She probably celebrated her greatest success on television: in the role of mother Mrs. Kathy Williams in the television series Make Room for Daddy , which she played in over 200 episodes between 1957 and 1964. At the age of 70 she withdrew into private life.

Private

Marjorie Lord was married three times. From 1941 to 1955 with actor John Archer , from 1958 to his death in 1974 with producer Randolph Hale, and from 1976 to his death in 2000 with banker Harry Volk. Marjorie Lord has two children with Archer. Her daughter is the actress Anne Archer . Marjorie Lord died of natural causes in November 2015 at the age of 97.
