Mark Birdwood, 3rd Baron Birdwood
Mark William Ogilvie Birdwood, 3rd Baron Birdwood (born November 23, 1938 in Bombay, now Mumbai , British India , † July 11, 2015 ) was a British peer and politician .
life and career
Birdwood was the son of Christopher Birdwood, 2nd Baron Birdwood , and Elizabeth Vere Drummond Ogilvie. He attended Radley College in Abingdon , Oxfordshire .
Birdwood served in the Royal Horse Guards and achieved the rank of Second Lieutenant . He attended Trinity College at the University of Cambridge , from which he graduated with a Master of Arts (MA). Birdwood has held executive positions in several industrial companies. Between 1970 and 1986 he was a director of Wrightson Wood . In 1986, he worked as a company owner and Chairman of Martlet Ltd . From 1989 to 1992 he was Director Scientific Generics . He was chairman of Worthington & Company from 1994 to 1998. In 2001 he was chairman of Steel Tower Ltd .
On January 6, 1962, he inherited his father's title. Between 1965 and 1999 he took part in several debates in the House of Lords . He sat in the House of Lords until November 11, 1999, when he lost his seat under the House of Lords Act 1999 .
family
Birdwood was married to Judith Helen Roberts since April 27, 1963. In 1964 a daughter, Sophie Frederika, was born. Since the 3rd Baron Birdwood had no male heirs, the barony became extinct with his demise.
