Mark Nicholas Davies (born February 18, 1988 in Wolverhampton ) is an English football player . The midfielder comes from the Wolverhampton Wanderers academy , was the captain of the England U-17 national team and was most recently under contract with the Bolton Wanderers .

Athletic career

Mark Davies came as a Wolverhampton Wanderers academy player to early honors in the English youth team and led the U-17 national team in a European championship qualifying game against Northern Ireland as captain on the field. He signed his first professional contract with the "Wolves" at the age of 17 and gradually earned a regular place under coach Glenn Hoddle after his league debut against Leeds United on August 20, 2005, especially towards the end of the 2005/06 season. A cartilage damage in the preparation time for the subsequent 2006/07 season ensured that his promising development was slowed down and he was only used in ten competitive games. The injury problems then worsened with a shoulder injury and he was incapacitated for the entire 2007-08 season.

On August 12, 2008, he made his comeback in the 3-2 League Cup victory against Accrington Stanley , when he both prepared a goal and scored a goal himself. However, it was not used regularly until the end of the year, when the Wolves loaned it to the third division Leicester City on November 27, 2008 . Since he immediately found good performances there, both clubs agreed that the initially targeted one month term would be extended to February 1, 2009.

Shortly before the end of this period, Davies signed on January 26, 2009 with first division club Bolton Wanderers a new contract until the end of the 2012/13 season. Only two days later he was on the field as a substitute for the Premier League for the first time - the game against local rivals Blackburn Rovers ended in a 2-2 draw.
