Mark William Rudd (born June 2, 1947 ) is a former member of the former US underground organization Weather Underground (WUO).

Life

Rudd became a member of Columbia University's Students for a Democratic Society (SDS) in 1963 . In 1968 he became a leader of the SDS subsidiary in Columbia. In the 1968 street battles in Columbia , he was active as a student spokesman, particularly in anti-Vietnam war demonstrations . When the war broke out, he worked together with other SDS leaders to make the organization more militant. Based on this commitment, he and others started the Weather Underground.

Rudd went underground in 1970 after three of his WUO colleagues were killed in the premature explosion of a Weather Underground bomb in Greenwich Village . He surrendered to the authorities in 1977 and was imprisoned. After studying at Central New Mexico Community College , he worked as a math teacher and now lives in retired Albuquerque, New Mexico.
