Mark Sampson (born October 18, 1982 in Cardiff ) is a Welsh football coach .

Career

From 2009 Sampson was in charge of the English first division club Bristol Academy WFC , with whom he twice reached the finals of the FA Women's Cup and in 2013 celebrated winning the runner-up and qualifying for the UEFA Women's Champions League . On December 6, 2013 he was introduced as the new head coach of the English national football team, he succeeded Hope Powell in this role . At the 2015 World Cup, he finished third with England. In September 2017 he was sacked by the English Football Association.

Since the summer of 2019, Sampson has been a member of Dino Maamria's coaching staff at English fourth division FC Stevenage . After only three points from the first seven games and the associated dismissal of Maamrias, Sampson took over the coaching position at Stevenage on September 9, 2019 on an interim basis. In mid-December 2019, Graham Westley was named Stevenage's new head coach. Sampson had taken 13 points from 13 league games by then, the club was still on the relegation ranks.
