Mark Wood (guitarist)
Mark Wood (born August 29, 1954 in Newcastle-upon-Tyne ) is a British jazz guitarist (acoustic and electric). He also plays synthesizers .
Wood is a self-taught musician and left school at the age of sixteen. His first engagement was with Joe Harriott . In 1981 he worked with Dudu Pukwana and founded the band Sunwind with Dave Defries , which released the album The Sun Below in 1985 . From 1982 to 1988 he was a member of the jazz rock band Nucleus , with whom he can be heard on the album Live in the Theaterhaus .
Wood recorded trio improvisations in 1998 with drummer John Marshall (drummer of Nucleus) and tenor saxophonist Theo Travis (album Marshall / Travis / Wood: Bodywork , 33 Jazz).
He also later recorded with Theo Travis. Tom Lord recorded 15 recording sessions from 1981 to 2014.
