Marko Peljhan

Marko Peljhan (* 1969 in Sempeter pri Gorici , Primorska ) is a Slovenian conceptual artist , media artist , director and professor.

life and work

Marko Peljhan studied at the University of Ljubljana from 1988 to 1992 . He is a professor at the University of California, Santa Barbara .

Marko Peljhan founded the Atol project in 1992 , which is considered an independent framework for artistic and social activities (theater, film, performance, reading, situations) in the Slovenian art scene. In 1995 he co-founded the Lyudmila station .

To his work cycle Ladomir billing the project belongs Makrolab , which exists since 1992, was registered in 1994 and 1997 documenta X premiered. Makrolab is a research station installed on the Lutterberg , in which three people are provided with essentials for 40 days. After the end of the documenta, the mobile laboratory went on tour.

In this laboratory, which is based on the Russian Mir space station , the data streams of local communications in Kassel from police radio to satellite telephones are tapped (legally) with various receiving instruments. In turn, video , internet and mobile phones established the connection with the documenta hall .
