Lutterberg is the northernmost part of the municipality of Staufenberg in the district of Göttingen in southern Lower Saxony ( Germany ). It has 878 inhabitants (as of Dec. 31, 2001).
Geographical location
Lutterberg is located in the Münden Nature Park on an agriculturally used plateau between the forests of the north-western part of the Kaufunger Forest . To the north is the small town of Hann. Münden , in the southeast the district of Nienhagen , in the southwest the central district of Landwehrhagen and in the west the district of Speele in the Fulda valley . The residential area of the village is 324 to 365 m above sea level. NHN ; the south-eastern edge of the industrial area to the east of the village is at an altitude of almost 380 m .
Directly north of Lutterberg on the federal road 496 lies the Lutterberger Höhe ( 355.1 m ), southeast of the Kleine Staufenberg ( 370.5 m ) and beyond the A 7 the Hühnerfeldberg ( 418.4 m ). In Lutterberg West southwest flowing into the Fulda springs Ickelsbach , shortly before its opening between two of its tunnel from the pub on the forest ICE - Hanover-Würzburg high-speed railway is bridged; the Mündener tunnel on this route leads around 1 km northwest of the village church, for example through the Lutterberger Höhe .
history
Until the time of the railway, Lutterberg was a carter village located on the important trade route from Hann. Münden (formerly Münden ) was after Kassel. The road climbed from Münden to its apex, the Lutterberger Höhe, after a steep climb of several kilometers in Lutterberg . Many Lutterbergers earned their livelihood with training and post-tensioning services and blacksmithing on this steep stretch, which was traveled by up to a hundred carts a day. In keeping with the historical significance of the carting trade , the wheel is also featured in the coat of arms.
In the Seven Years' War (1756-1763) were close Lutterberg and on the other side of Fulda, near Knickhagen (municipality part of Hesse Fuldatal ) flowing Osterbach scenes of the Battle of Lutter Mountain (1758) , which resulted in French troops under Lieutenant General Soubise Hesse fell. In the course of the war another battle took place near Lutterberg in 1762 , in which the French were defeated by the Braunschweig and Hanoverians.

Since January 1, 1973 Lutterberg has been part of the municipality of Staufenberg.
Since the end of the 1980s, the Staufenberg community has been intensively promoting its industrial park in Lutterberg on the autobahn, where many companies have settled. Including a truck stop , a parcel center of Deutsche Post , one concrete block plant and a press wholesaler .
