Market 6 (Alsfeld)
The house at Markt 6 in Alsfeld , a town in the Vogelsbergkreis in Hesse , was built in 1609. The half-timbered house is a protected architectural monument .
description
In 1609 the mayor of the city Jost Stumpf (1574–1629) had a residential building built across from the town hall. The three-storey house is the only building between Mainzer Gasse and Rittergasse. The long eaves side faces the market square. A half-timbered building rises above a massive ground floor, which with its decorative shapes does justice to the representative claim of its builder. The corner post of the first floor on Mainzer Gasse represents a patrician in contemporary clothing. The other posts of the half-timbered construction are adorned with oriental-looking figures. The projectile overhangs are richly decorated with braids, rods, waves, tendrils and other ornaments.
