Markus Bellheim
Markus Bellheim (born May 26, 1973 in Hamburg ) is a German pianist and university professor .
Artistic activity
Markus Bellheim gives solo recitals, gives concerts as a soloist with orchestra and as a chamber music and ensemble partner. He is particularly committed to contemporary music. In 2008 he recorded the complete works for piano solo by Wolfgang Rihm . In 2009 the cycle Vingt regards sur l'enfant-Jésus by Olivier Messiaen was published by NEOS. His recording with the piano concerto by Bruno Maderna together with the Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra has been awarded various prizes, including a. with the German Record Critics' Prize .
His career was shaped by winning the international competition Concours Olivier Messiaen in Paris in 2000 and by artistic collaboration with Yvonne Loriod . Markus Bellheim's concert repertoire includes the complete piano works of Olivier Messiaen . He performs worldwide with the Turangalîla Symphony . Since 2009 he has been “Artist in Residence” of the Cantiere Internazionale d'Arte in Montepulciano.
University activity
Markus Bellheim regularly gives master classes at home and abroad. He taught at the University of Music in Würzburg and was appointed professor for piano at the University of Music and Theater in Munich in the 2011 winter semester . From 2014 to 2016 he was Vice President there.
