Markus Conrad

Markus Conrad (* 1973 in Villingen-Schwenningen ) is a German CDU politician . In 2003 he ran as a candidate for mayor in the Wörrstadt community and at the age of 29 was able to win this position for the CDU for the first time. In 2011 and 2018, Conrad was confirmed as mayor of the Wörrstadt community. At the beginning of February 2019, the CDU unanimously elected him as a candidate for the district council election on May 26, 2019 at a district party conference.

education and profession

After attending the elementary school in Wiesbach, Conrad attended the orientation level of the secondary school in Zweibrücken and then from 1986 to 1993 the Hofenfels grammar school in Zweibrücken. He graduated from high school. From 1993 to 1995, Conrad trained as a reserve officer for the Bundeswehr . His current rank is first lieutenant in the reserve.

He then studied from 1995 to 1998 at the Mayen University of Applied Sciences . In the summer of 1998 he was awarded the title of Diplom-Verwaltungswirt (FH). After completing his studies, Conrad worked as a clerk in the budget and finance department of the Rhineland-Palatinate Ministry of Economics, Transport, Agriculture and Viticulture .

politics

In 1988 Conrad joined the Junge Union (JU). From 1990 to 1992 he held the office of local chairman of the JU Wiesbach . From 1997 to 1999 Conrad acted as the chairman of the municipal association of JU Ramstein-Miesenbach , and from 1998 to 2000 he was also an alderman in the district association. He took over the chairmanship of the JU district association Alzey-Worms in 1999. He held this office for two electoral terms until 2004.

In 2001 he took over the office of treasurer of the CDU local association in Wörrstadt. From 2002 to 2004 he was secretary of the municipal association of Wörrstadt. In 2003, the politician moved into the CDU state executive as an assessor. Since 2006 Conrad has been deputy chairman of the CDU district association Alzey-Worms.

Furthermore, he has been a member of the Alzey-Worms district assembly since 2004, where he was deputy chairman of the CDU district assembly from 2007 to 2014. He has been chairman of the parliamentary group since 2014. In 2015, Conrad was appointed head of the CDU working group for the Rheinhessen region by the four CDU district associations in Mainz, Mainz-Bingen, Worms and Alzey-Worms .

Since July 2003 the Christian Democrat has been directly elected mayor of the Wörrstadt community.

For the election of the district administrator in the district of Alzey-Worms on May 26, 2019, he ran for the CDU and reached the runoff, which he narrowly lost on June 16, 2019 with 49.0% of the vote against the SPD candidate Heiko Sippel .

Personal

Conrad is married and has three children. He lives with his family in Armsheim in Rhineland-Hesse .
