Markus Molitor

Markus Molitor (* 1964 ) is a German winemaker from Bernkastel-Wehlen on the Moselle .

The Markus Molitor winery manages 65 hectares of vineyards on the Moselle . With 90% Riesling is the dominant grape variety, but it also produces small amounts of Pinot Noir . Molitor cultivates vineyards in 15 different locations , u. a. Wehlener sundial and Graacher cathedral provost . The manor building is located in the Wehlener Klosterberg area. It was built as a winery at the end of the 19th century and acquired by Markus Molitor in 1984 after taking over the business.

In 2014, Markus Molitor was voted winemaker of the year by a jury from falstaff magazine . The final breakthrough to the world's top winemakers and wine makers succeeded Molitor in 2015, when he by the journal The Wine Advocate , for three of its wines, all Riesling reading , respectively, the highest score of 100 Parker points (named after Robert Parker , the founder of Wine- Advocate). Molitor belongs to a group of prominent winemakers whose wines achieve top prices. In the 2015 edition of Gault & Millau WeinGuide Germany, Molitor and his winery received four out of five grapes.

Together with Roman Niewodniczanski from the Van Volxem winery , he is working on the recultivation of the Geisberg an der Saar vineyard in the Schoden district .
