Markus Mußinghoff

Markus Mußinghoff (born September 24, 1962 in Lüdinghausen ) is an international visual artist in the fields of sculpture , installation art , performance , photography and film .

Markus Mußinghoff grew up in Selm and has lived in Düsseldorf since 1983. There he studied from 1983 to 1991 at the Düsseldorf Art Academy with David Rabinovic and Erich Reusch . In 1988 he became a master student.

In 1991 he received the cultural promotion award of his hometown Selm, in 1992 the Ringenberg scholarship of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia and in 1993 the art award of the city of Nordhorn . Scholarships: 1999 Artists in Residence, IASKA Kellerberrin, Australia; 2002 guest artist, Association for the Promotion of Artistic Projects with Social Relevance eV, Wiesbaden; 2003 working grant from the Kunstfonds Bonn Foundation ; 2004 Artists in Residence, Ein Hod, Israel; 2006 3rd Woodcutter Symposium, Eppstein.

1994–2003 he took on teaching positions at various universities of applied sciences. Since 1997 he has been a member of the IKG ( International Artist Committee ) and was a member of the Board of Trustees of the Art Fund Foundation.

In addition to the artistic fields mentioned above, his diverse work also includes working on the radio play "Die Folter" (1994), which has been broadcast several times, as well as initiating and curatorial support for artistic projects.

Markus Mußinghoff u. a. through very large sculptural bodies that occupy space, enclose it, structure it, cut it up, but also create it in the first place. They were specially designed and built for the exhibition venues. After the end of the exhibitions, these works were destroyed again. While almost all of these works were realized in Germany, he also appeared as a performance, video and installation artist in other European and non-European countries. a. in Great Britain, France, Poland, Serbia, Switzerland, India, Australia and Israel.

A number of works are privately owned. A permanent outdoor work is located in front of the town hall in Selm. The bright, unmistakably large concrete sculpture makes it possible to experience the separation and connection at the seam of two completely differently designed parts of the building.
